Parent Guide

A Warm Welcome to You!

I invite you to take a deep breath. (or three!) You probably could use it.

I know from personal experience, that being a parent is one of the most challenging things you will ever do.  Raising girls has it’s unique challenges. I started The Moon Tribe as an answer to a need I see for more education and support. I am the daughter of two public school educators and a mother of two daughters, almost 17 and 20 years old. I know that raising a young girl into adulthood is a daunting task. I’m sure that, like me, you want the best for your daughter. You want her to feel good about herself, and see her make healthy choices so she can find a path that is successful in a practical sense and in a happy heart sort of way.

I have learned a lot along the way, through many trials, errors and successes both as a parent and as a person. I have felt inspired since I was 17 to be a mentor for teens. My goal is to provide a safe place for them to feel truly seen, find positive qualities in themselves and bring their gifts into the world. I find that schools can only do so much and that there are gaps in education when it comes to practical life skills, learning about emotional health and happiness and how to communicate in a healthy way.

Do you feel like your child has inner potential and could use some encouragement to come into her full capacity?

This is my main goal, to see your daughter develop her inner potential and really witness her strengths, so she can grow into the amazing woman that she is.

Does your child have a special ability that school isn’t recognizing or providing an outlet for?

I believe every person is creative and has unique gifts to bring to the world. If everyone is seen in this way growing up and encouraged to bring forth who they are, our world will be a more healthy and harmonious place. I have a special interest in the quantum level of realty and have been inspired to explore energy medicine, dream work and healing transformation. It is important to develop the mind, through logic and critical thinking, as well as the soul, including intuition, the body and extrasensory awareness.

Logistics, how The Moon Tribe works:

I offer weekly groups where the girls gather once a week. We will do group activities that are focused on creating connection and developing the ability to share authenticly.  There will be various themes such as: how to be a good friend, how to work with body image and pressure from the media, what does it mean to be a woman, how to respect and love yourself and others and how to communicate with parents, siblings, teachers and friends.  I will bring guests in, other amazing women who are experts on topics and also older teen girls who are really strong role models. My goal is to create lots of support for your daughter and exposure to women who are living in a way that is full of integrity and love.

I learned how to be a woman by watching those who were older than me. Looking back, I wish I had an opportunity to be around more positive inspirations for who I wanted to become.

I will also offer skills building days on Saturdays and during the summer so girls have the opportunity to learn a variety of hands-on skills. Knowing how to be skillful will help her to feel more capable, confident and worthy of love. I will also host a summer camp, with an outdoors/farm focus: organic gardens, chickens, rabbits, shelter building, respect for the nature, etc.

Parenting Support:

“We aren’t meant to do this alone! It’s okay to step out of isolation and overwhelm and into a container of nourishing support. The time of the lone wolf is over!”

I offer a monthly parenting class and support group where we will learn and share about important topics related to raising young women such as: developmental stages, how to develop respect and create boundaries, what to do when feeling triggered/reactive and how to communicate your values and expectations in a way that shows you care.
